Birds-of-a-Feather Sessions

Lead or attend a BoF! Meet with your peers! Present new work! Don't miss these special activities designed to maximize the value of your time at the conference. The always popular evening Birds-of-a-Feather sessions are very informal gatherings of persons interested in a particular topic.

Vendor BoFs

Want to demonstrate a new product or discuss your company's latest technologies with Security '15 attendees? Host a Vendor BoF! These sponsored one-hour sessions give companies a chance to talk about products and proprietary technology—and they include promotional benefits. Email sponsorship@usenix.org if you're interested in sponsoring a Vendor BoF. Click here for more information about sponsorship opportunities.

Scheduling a BoF

To schedule a BoF, simply write the BoF title as well as your name and affiliation on the BoF Board located in the registration area. If you have a description of your BoF that you'd like posted on this Web page, please schedule your BoF on the BoF board, then send the title, the organizer's name and affiliation, and the date, time, and location of the BoF to bofs@usenix.org with "SEC '15 BoF" in the subject line.

A Trusted Cyber Future: Round Table Discussion and Community Collaboration on the Future of DHS R&D Funding
Dr. Douglas Maughan, Director, Cyber Security Division, Dept. of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate
Thursday, August 13, 7:30 pm-9:30 pm, Regency BCD
The Department of Homeland Security Science & Technology (S&T) Directorate (the R&D arm) is in the process of eliciting input from the community to shape research funding in the future. They are calling this effort the "National Conversation". S&T's Cyber Security Division (CSD) is seeking inputs from security researchers under the subtitle, "A Trusted Cyber Future". These inputs will be synthesized and used to first rewrite the federal R&D plan and then the HSARPA R&D plan. These plans directly guide how the government's limited research dollars are applied. Find out more about the "National Conversation" online here: http://scitech.ideascale.com/a/ideas/top/campaign-filter/byids/campaigns/60711. Reference materials, including outputs from previously held conversations on cyber security may be found here: http://scitech.ideascale.com/a/pages/cyberreference Other info on the S&T's Twitter feed @dhsscitech and the hash tags #SciTechConvo and #CyberFuture
