Why Attend LISA?

"If you're a sysadmin slaving away in a metaphorical basement and re-inventing the wheel every time your employer's business goals change slightly, LISA will help pull you into the light."

Marc Chiarini, Long-Time IT Admin and Researcher, MarkLogic Corp

"LISA is the best mix of training, talks, and networking of any events I've been to. That's the reason I've been to 11 of them.”

LISA14 Attendee

"This was my first LISA. It was great attending a conference that focused on my role without trying to shoehorn every challenge into a specific vendor's solution. The same mix of awesome sessions, speakers, and other attendees will bring me back every year."

LISA14 Attendee

"LISA is the home of ops people who do ops correctly. I’m always motivated by the conference content and hallway conversations to be better, and I take home the knowledge needed to move closer to that goal. "

Tony Del Porto, Cisco Systems, Inc.

"No matter if you are dealing with the latest tech or trying to maintain something from the dark ages of the ‘90s, there are people at LISA who are experienced with it. Heck, many of the people who _developed_ this tech attend. This is a great place to get answers and ideas."

Lee Damon, University of Washington

"Great sessions, great presenters, great community. I feel like I can make up a year of following news and forums on the subject in a week."

LISA14 Attendee

"I like seeing where the industry is heading, how SysAdmins/engineers are evolving, tools they are using, common problems and solutions across the world."

LISA14 Attendee

"In a world where technology changes rapidly, it's hard to find great resources for in-depth expertise. LISA has a terrific combination of people who create the technology and people who implement it effectively for their companies."

Matt Simmons, Northeastern University

LISA Build

Join Us at LISA Build

Sunday, November 8, 9:00 am–5:00 pm

You may have built enterprise networks before, but have you ever built one in 16 hours or fewer? Register for LISA Build, and learn from the experts on building and establishing a production network from the ground up. You'll come in with your skills (at any level), we'll match you with an area and lab tech, and you and your team will construct the hardware and software for the rest of the conference in a hands-on instructional environment. This is not a class, it doesn't have a syllabus, but it does have a great final exam at the end: move packets for LISA.

There are some restrictions:

  • You need to be registered for LISA15 to participate in LISA Build. Select the LISA Build Add-On when registering.
  • You will need to be at the venue, ready to start on the morning of November 8.

If you are attending LISA15 and would like to be considered for LISA Build, you may select this as an add-on in the LISA15 registration for a fee of $190 (includes your access to the Build activity, as well as continental breakfasts, lunches, and snacks). Please send a brief email to lisa15build@usenix.org explaining why you would like to participate, what your areas of expertise are, and what technologies you might be willing to learn.

Become a LISA Build Sponsor

Interested in sponsoring LISA Build? Sponsors have the opportunity to ensure that Build participants have what they need in order to successfully build a network from the ground up. These attendees come to Build to learn about, experiment with, and possibly even recommend your product(s).

If you would like your company to participate in LISA Build by sponsoring or donating equipment, please send an email to sponsorship@usenix.org explaining your interest and/or product offering, and how you think it will compliment the LISA Build experience.

Thanks to Xirrus for providing Wi-Fi arrays!
