The people who make me laugh in IRC

Blog Team Fearless Leader Matt Simmons told me Tuesday afternoon that I'm not contractually bound to write two blog posts per day.  I can only take that to mean that I need to write three posts.  Not really, but I did want to sneak in a few extra thoughts.  So far, the posts have mostly been about the training sessions that have been offered at LISA '10.  What can get overlooked is the informal interaction that goes on, even (especially) during training sessions.

Many LISA '10 attendees have been in the #lisa10 room on irc.freenode.net.  It can be a bit distracting, especially when someone is being funny and you're sitting in the front row trying desperately to keep a straight face, but the chat is really enhances the LISA experience.  Questions get answered and related topics get debated all while the training is still going on.  Since everyone is in the same IRC channel, rooms sometimes cross-discuss giving everyone a bit of exposure to the sessions they're missing out on.  And, of course, IRC facilitates the planning of dinner and drinks.

As a first time LISA attendee, I've found the IRC channel to be a great social and learning tool.  But seriously, can you please stop making me laugh?
