USENIX joins the *nix community at large in mourning the loss of UNIX pioneer Evi Nemeth. News broke last week that the schooner Nemeth was sailing aboard went missing off the western coast of New Zealand. As the search for the missing ship began, we all held out hope that good news would follow. Sadly, word has gone out that New Zealand officials have called off the search for the missing vessel. Evi touched many lives in the UNIX and USENIX communities. With heavy hearts we offer our condolences to her family, even as we celebrate a life well-lived. Sailing was one of Evi's great passions; the world lost her while she did something she loved.
