Welcome Reception and Conference Orientation

Whether this is your first time at LISA or your 27th, stop by the Welcome Reception and Conference Orientation to learn how to get the most out of the conference. The orientation includes an overview of Washington, D.C., an introduction to LISA, and an opportunity to meet your peers. Refreshments and snacks provided.
Board Game Night
Sunday, November 3, 8:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m., Johnson Room
Join us on Sunday night for some good old-fashioned board games. Take a step back into the past and test your knowledge playing the Totally 80s edition of Trivial Pursuit. Challenge your fellow attendees to a game of Scrabble or Pictionary. Bring your own games, too!
LISA Lab Hack Space

New this year! Please drop by the LISA Lab. The Lab is an informal hack space where LISA attendees can engage with invited talks speakers, gurus, and refereed paper authors for live demos and in depth discussions. The Lab will be open all day Tuesday through Thursday during conference hours, and as a Super BoF after hours.

Lightning talks are fast-paced and high-energy. These are back-to-back 5-minute presentations on just about anything. Talk about a recent success, energize people about a pressing issue, ask a question, start a conversation! Lightning talks are an opportunity to get up and talk about what’s on your mind. You can give several lightning talks if you have more than one topic. To submit a Lightning Talk, please fill out the Web form.

LISA ’13 Scavenger Hunt
Inside your registration packet you’ll find a LISA ’13 Scavenger Hunt Card. The 2013 questions contain characteristics of folks who help organize or participate in LISA, as well as questions about your favorite bowling-themed movies and TV shows. Use your finest sleuthing skills to locate people who fit the bill or know the answers to the trivia questions. Take a moment to chat with them, and ask them politely for their signatures. All you need to win are 10 signatures. Once you’ve got them, drop by the USENIX Membership Booth to spin the Prize Wheel. Prizes range from T-shirts to free conference passes and more.
