Topics will include:

-    DNS

-    Routing
-    Subnetting
-    Load sharing vs. load balancing
-    Access control lists
-    Authentication
-    VPNs
-    Logging, reporting and operating system nuances

This tutorial provides a list of some of the more common firewall problems, behavior associated with those problems, troubleshooting methods and the all-important solution. The slides from this tutorial can be used as a reference guide in firewall problem solving.

Char Sample  has installed over 150 firewalls, was one of the original five engineers on the FWTK/Gauntlet project, and has spent many a stressful day on the Gauntlet support lines. She has developed and delivered training for TIS, V-ONE, SGI, Booze-Allen and Price Waterhouse LLP.
