Dear Tcl Enthusiast:

We invite you to attend the only conference where you will hear about and discuss the latest approaches, extensions, and applications for software development with Tcl and Tk. This annual event presents new insights and the latest developments in the field. This year, it has been expanded to include two days of tutorials and more invited speakers than ever before.

Tcl/Tk creator John Ousterhout will share his thoughts on the future technical directions of Tcl. Ousterhout will take his infamous "Ouster Voting" polls of the participants, which help guide the core development team. If you want to have an influence, don't miss this opportunity.

You will also benefit from the technical track of refereed papers. Presentations range from technical language issues to interesting and novel extensions, to experience reports from innovative and challenging applications. Expect excellent presentations and papers - all of the papers and presentations will be judged for awards.

At last year's conference, an impromptu Best Poster award was given because of the impressive quality of this session. We anticipate more superb posters, and encourage you to prepare one - it's a very effective way of sharing your experiences with a large number of people in an interactive and informal setting. Informal Birds-of-a-Feather (BoF) and Work-in-Progress (WIP) sessions will also be available for you to share your experiences and get immediate feedback.

In between the presentations, you'll be able to rub elbows and chat with all the major extension developers, as well as Tcl's core development team. And, you will also get to participate in special fun with games and prizes! (Leave your extra T-shirts at home - unless you expect to give them away!)

The importance of Tcl/Tk continues to increase and we are certain this conference will be useful to you.

We look forward to seeing you in September.

Don Libes, National Institute of Standards and Technology
Michael McLennan, Bell Labs Innovations for Lucent Technologies

P.S. Remember to register for tutorials early.
