USENIX is looking for experienced bloggers to help us promote and cover LISA '11, taking place December 4–9, 2011, in Boston, MA. Everyone from university students to blogging professionals is encouraged to apply.

We're looking for bloggers with experience in technical writing and who have an understanding of system administration or software engineering.

In exchange for being a part of the LISA '11 blogging team, all participants will receive a complimentary conference registration, as well the opportunity to post a bio link on the LISA '11 blog team bio page. A dessert reception will also be held at the end of the conference week to show our appreciation for your efforts.

Not only will bloggers build their technical writing portfolio, but they will also have the opportunity to get on the inside track of the industry's leading system administration conference.

Open blogger positions include:

  • System Administration Blogger
Must have at least 2 years of system administration experience. Junior system administrators are welcome to apply, but must be fairly well versed in a wide variety of systems concepts, including low-level operating system internals, Linux administration, Solaris administration, and virtualization.

  • Technical Sessions Bloggers

  • Vlogger

You will walk around with a video camera and conduct interviews with speakers and presenters attending the conference and cover their talks in video format. The Vlogger position requires a 30-second video resume in order to be considered, submitted in a YouTube or Vimeo link.

Each blogger is expected to post at least one article per day on the LISA '11 blog in their topic of expertise. Careful note-taking and analytical skills are required in order to qualify as an effective blogger.
