LISA Data Storage Day

Data Storage Day is a one-day event focused on the current trends in the storage industry. Registration is free as a way of introducing newcomers to the LISA conference.

The goal of Data Storage Day is to explain the trends and developments in the storage industry in the language spoken by hands-on IT professionals. Other events tend to glaze over how and why specific products or technologies work, focusing instead on the business value. However, at Data Storage Day, we'll provide a peek under the proverbial hood, making it easier to match technology to business value—thus creating a unique event that's well worth a day out of the office!

Why is it free? What's the catch?
The LISA conference is put on by the USENIX Association in conjunction with LISA, LOPSA, and SNIA. These are all world-class non-profit organizations, and as an IT professional, they are available to you. We are offering this program free of charge to help promote the LISA conference and these organizations. Our hope is that you will be impressed by the quality of the course content and consider participating in future activities and events.

LISA Data Storage Day: Latest Trends in Storage Networking

TUESDAY, MAY 1, 2012, ATLANTA, GA   Register Now!

Duration: The program runs from 9:00AM to roughly 4:00PM, but it is broken down into four separate lectures with a lunch break in the middle and a Q&A session at the end. Feel free to leave early or arrive late. You will still get a lot out of your time investment. See below for the full program.

Schedule format: The typical format for the lecture is as follows. For specific details, please see the registration link above.

9:00 a.m.–10:30 a.m. Storage Virtualization and the Evolution of Storage Networking

Who should attend: The lecture materials are intended for a hands-on technical audience: system admins, storage admins, disaster revoery planners, data center managers, etc. We expect that you have a working knowledge of storage, backup system principles, networks, and servers. The course content is particularly useful to those who are responsible for system architecture and for general IT strategy.

Overview: This full-day event consists of four lectures addressing the latest trends in storage networking. The four lecture are derived from the program for Storage Day at the 25th Annual USENIX LISA Conference which was held this past December in Boston, MA. LISA stands for Large Installation System Administration. It is the premier conference for hands-on system administrators. At LISA, the presentations were delivered by industry experts (i.e., the people who write the technical books and articles), not by product manufacturers.

Parking info: Attendees should park at Georgia State University's G-Deck. Visitors should name GSU USENIX as the event they are attending. The parking rate is $6.00. If for some reason G-Deck cannot accommodate all GSU USENIX visitors, a parking attendant will direct them to the nearest available GSU lot.
