New Electronic Proposal Submission Format!
USENIX considers proposals for student scholarships. Due to the events of 9/11,
and the economy, we have unfortunately suspended funding for the remainder of 2002.
We encourage you to check this Web site often for updates, as we do hope to continue
funding in the near future.
The USENIX Scholars Program typically covers one year of a student's expenses including
tuition, fees, and stipend. We do not fund University overhead (in some cases, this may
require the grant to be called a gift; we are willing to work with institutions to make such grants possible).
The proposal must be submitted by a faculty member.
Whenever USENIX funds a proposal, we also pre-approve student travel
stipends so that funded students can attend a USENIX
conference and present the results of the work. We hope that students
will submit papers to the conference, but if this is not possible
or the submission is not accepted, it is expected that the students
will participate in the WIP (works-in-progress) session. Funds for
travel to attend a USENIX conference should not be included in the total budget.
To submit a proposal to the USENIX Scholars Program, you will be asked to
submit the following information using the electronic submission form below:
- Name of student and contact information
- Name of faculty representative
- Name of academic institution
- Amount of funding requested
- Start date of scholarship
- Duration of scholarship
Statement describing the outstanding qualities of the nominee. Including why this nominee is deserving of a scholarship, and how the nominee might contribute to the community in the long term
Budget.
Please note the deadlines for proposal submissions.
Senders will be notified of receipt of submission via e-mail.
A list of the scholarships that USENIX has awarded to date is online.
If you have all this information available, then press Submit a Proposal to start the
submission process. Submission is not complete until you see a page titled
`Thank You'. If you do not see this page, then you have not completed the
submission process. Some browsers do not support file upload, and occasionally
caches get the way of the proper functioning of the form.
