Secure Remote Auditing Abstract
The popularity of the world wide web and Java has made ubiquitous a new methodology for distributing code --- executable content that is downloaded by a host and locally executed in an interpreter. This model raises a number of security issues, most of which concern the interaction between interpreters and agents. Our work focuses on protecting "agents" from Byzantine hosts. While it is impossible to prevent tampering by hosts, mechanisms which check whether an agent was executed in accordance with its intended semantics are needed. Our research focuses on providing an infrastructure for achieving this goal.
