Abstract:

While our organization focus on development rather than research, this workshop covers many topics that we are addressing or will need to address. For example, many solutions may work just fine in a homogenous NT environment, but it is unlikely that this will ever be the case on campus. Given that, how does one properly integrate NT (and not just have it co-exist) into an existing heterogenous distributed computing environment?

This question brings forth more specific questions. Will NT's security model integrate with an existing Kerberos5/DCE infrastructure? Will NT services scale to over 10,000 users in a single unit? If not, how does one proceed with the development to make it so (and do it in such a way that the next major release of NT won't break everything we've just done).
