Work-in-Progress Reports (WiPs) - Saturday, October 14, 3:30 - 5:00 pm
Do you have interesting work you would like to share, or a cool idea that is not yet ready to be published? The ALS audience provides valuable discussion and feedback. Presentations of student work are particularly welcome. To schedule your short report, send email to Bryan Andregg at alswips@usenix.org.

Birds-of-a-Feather Sessions (BoFs) - Wednesday-Friday, October 11-13
Share new ideas and interesting projects in progress. BoFs are informal, evening gatherings organized by attendees looking to share their projects with peers and discuss new paths and techniques for their work. Email Danny Cox at alsbofs@usenix.org to schedule a session in advance.

Linux In Action (LIA), Thursday to Saturday, October 12-14, 2000
Designed to educate the general public on the uses of Linux, LIA offers attendees a location where they can see linux being used for various functions including graphics design, network and file service providers, entertainment, and more. A series of pre-configured stations will be provided for hands-on demos of these features by experienced users.

Last year's most popular activity is back! Join ALS attendees, exhibitors, and organizers for an informal and fun evening. Pick up a Power Card and experience the latest in electronic simulators and gaming favorites. Shuttle service will be provided.

Benefit Dinner - Friday, October 13, 7:00 - 8:30 pm
Cindy Cohn photo Show your support for Open Source. You can purchase tickets onsite to this at the conference registration desk. ALS donates the proceeds of this annual dinner to a worthy open source effort. This year, ALS is proud to sponsor the Electronic Frontier Foundation and their efforts in the DeCSS legal battle. Cindy Cohn, Legal Director for the EFF, will speak at the benefit dinner about the DeCSS case.

Linux Journal Readers' Choice Awards - Friday, October 13, 8:30 pm
Do you have the best booth? The best giveaway? The best pitch? Find out as ALS 2000 and Linux Journal award "Best of Show" to those vendors and companies that go the extra mile for attendees. Best of Show winners will be announced at the Friday night banquet, along with the winners of Linux Journal Readers' Choice Awards.
