On behalf of the DOE-funded Petascale Data Storage Institute (PDSI, www.pdsi-scidac.org), a collaboration of CMU (Gibson, Ganger), UCSC (Long, Scott, Miller, Maltzahn), U.Mich (Honeyman), LANL (Grider, Nunez, Bent), ORNL (Roth), SNL (Ward), PNNL (Felix, Farber), LBNL (Kramer, Hick, Mokhtarani), I would like to propose a poster on "PDSI Data Releases and Repositories". This poster will describe the various types of failure, performance, size statistics data sets that we are gathering for public distribution. We seek to not only use these data sets in our own research, but to make these data sets available for other researchers to use freely and creatively. To that end we seek the opportunity to advertise the type of data that is available, where to get it and how to use it. Examples include data already used in papers in DSN06 and FAST07 as well as new releases of similar and very new types of data. The source of these data sets is sometimes the supercomputers run by some of our sites, and sometimes academic and commercial sites. We are also seeking feedback from the community on how to systemically encourage others to gather than release useful data; for example, should there be an award for best release of useful raw data each year at FAST based on a nomination process to the FAST committee, etc.
