LISA '10 Call for Participation

Workshops, Posters, and BoFs

Workshops

One-day workshops are hands-on, participatory sessions where small groups of system administrators have an opportunity to discuss a topic of common interest. Workshops are not intended as tutorials and participants are expected to have reasonable experience in the appropriate area, "enabling" discussions at a peer level. However, attendees with less experience often find workshops useful and are encouraged to discuss attendance with the workshop organizer.

A workshop proposal should include the following information:

  • Title
  • Objective
  • Organizer name(s) and contact information
  • Potential attendee profile
  • Outline of potential topics
Workshop proposals are due May 17, 2010. Please email your proposal to lisa10workshops@usenix.org.

Posters

Posters are an opportunity to present recent work that is not ready or not appropriate for a refereed paper. The posters will be on display during the conference, and fixed times will be advertised when authors should be present to discuss their work with anyone who is interested. Posters provide an excellent opportunity to make contact with other people who may be interested in the same area. Student posters, practitioners sharing their experiences, and submissions from open source communities are particularly welcome. Authors of accepted refereed papers may also submit poster proposals to supplement the presentation of the work described in their paper.

To submit a poster, please send a PDF file containing either a proposal of fewer than five (5) pages or no more than ten (10) slides to Rudi van Drunen at lisa10posters@usenix.org. Please include your name, your affiliation, and the title of your poster. The deadline for submissions has been extended to October 22, 2010. If you would like a shepherd to assist you with your poster proposal, please contact lisa10posters@usenix.org in advance of the deadline. If your poster is accepted, you might receive a recommendation for shepherding to prepare your final poster.

Completed posters will be required by the start of the conference. Poster presenters who would also like to give a short presentation may also register for a WiP as described below.

Work-in-Progress Reports (WiPs)

This year's program does include Work-in-Progress reports (WiPs). Please consider participating in this session in which you are granted 5 minutes to share your current project or an idea with the LISA crowd. Time slots can be scheduled on-site or in advance by emailing lisa10wips@usenix.org.

Birds-of-a-Feather Sessions (BoFs)

Birds-of-a-Feather sessions (BoFs) are informal gatherings organized by attendees interested in a particular topic. BoFs will be held in the evening. BoFs may be scheduled in advance by emailing bofs@usenix.org. BoFs may also be scheduled at the conference.
