Burnout and PCSD: Placing Team At Risk

Abstract: 

From the pandemic, we have changed and transformed in ways we are still trying to discover. The effects have caused incredible burnout amongst colleagues and personal relationships, and has in ways, impacted managers, teams, and company structure and policies. It is not just burnout. We have another deeper issue that is becoming prevalent, Post-COVID Stress Disorder (PCSD). As an industry, we need to be aware of the seriousness of burnout, and recognize the role we play in mental health. This talk discusses burnout, what that means for security and the well-being of companies, and solutions to support one another as we proceed into a new era post-pandemic.

Chloé Messdaghi is a changemaker who focuses on innovating tech and information security sectors to meet today and tomorrow demands. For over 10 years, she has provided impactful solutions that empower organizations, products, and people to stand out from the crowd. She is a seasoned public speaker at major conferences, conventions, forums, and corporate events organized by industry associations and Fortune 500 companies. She serves or has served on several advisory groups, boards of directors, and nonprofit boards of trustees. Outside of her work, she continues to roll up her sleeves for equity and rights as the co-founder of Hacking is NOT a Crime and We Open Tech. She also co-runs the Open Tech Pledge project to help increase the representation of marginalized persons in leadership positions. She provides a weekly advice column for Ask Chloé on Security Boulevard, and the podcast host for ITSP Magazine's The Changemaking Podcast. She holds a Master of Science from The University of Edinburgh, and a BA in International Relations from University of California, Davis, as well as executive education certificates from Wharton and Cornell.
