Abstract: 

In this fireside chat, Bob Lord will interview Sheera Frenkel, cybersecurity reporter for the New York Times, and author. Her latest book is "An Ugly Truth: Inside Facebook's Battle for Domination." Sheera and Bob will cover topics including cybersecurity, disinformation, hate speech, and journalism.

Bob Lord most recently served as the first Chief Security Officer at the Democratic National Committee. In that role he worked to secure the Committee, as well as helping state parties and campaigns with their security programs. Previous roles include CISO at Yahoo, CISO in Residence at Rapid 7, and before that he headed up Twitter’s information security program as its first security hire. Sheera Frenkel, New York Times

Sheera Frenkel is an award-winning technology reporter based in San Francisco. In 2018, she was part of a team of New York Times reporters who were finalists for the Pulitzer Prize and in 2019 she won a Loeb award for her reporting on Facebook. In 2021, she and Cecilia Kang published, "An Ugly Truth: Inside Facebook's Battle for Domination." The book became a New York Times and International Bestseller.

Previously, she spent over a decade in the Middle East as a foreign correspondent, reporting for BuzzFeed, NPR, The Times of London and McClatchy Newspapers.
