One of our research goals is to develop sufficient understanding of Windows NT and translate this knowledge into making reasonable design decisions for ongoing and future generation of processors.

Our NT research work involves understanding the behavior of applications under NT. We have developed both lab-based and software tools to characterize applications under NT. Our lab based tools help us in gathering application traces and our software tools aid in understanding traces, measure performance metrics with performance counters etc. We are also involved in NT instrumentation work to gain better understanding of NT internals.
