My research interests involve porting large Unix system applications to Windows NT. The issues involved include:

- Limits in the fidelity of a Unix API emulation layer.

- Moving from the use of a Unix API emulation layer to native Win32; particular issues include the fork system call, I/O calls, and errno values.
- Synchronization models.
- Differences in the behavior of named pipes.
- Authentication models.
- Building complicated C++ programs from common source code and makefiles.
