Abstract:
I manage the Operating Systems research group at Microsoft Research. My group has several ongoing research projects that are using Windows NT. We have a distributed system project, Millennium, that involves Java VMs on Windows NT. We are developing a layered file system for Windows NT that provides single-instance store semantics on top of NTFS: independent files with identical contents are automatically detected and only a single physical copy is stored. We are investigating Windows NT's real-time scheduling performance. Finally, we are developing a prototype implementation of IPv6 for Windows NT.
