Abstract:
I am working as a member of Data General's Performance Optimization and Systems Modeling group. We are using Microsoft NT to generate workloads that drive systems models and cache simulations. Our current project in this field uses Microsoft SQL running on Microsoft NT as the foundation for a TPC-C database run. CPU bus transactions generated by and gathered from this run are then used as input for cache simulations and other systems models. The goal of our research is twofold. By gaining an in-depth understanding of the workload imposed on a NT system, we strive to improve the performance of DG machines running under similar workloads. Additionally, this research provides important insights into NT software scaling issues on multiprocessor servers.
