Abstract:

The Eisenhower National Clearinghouse is a federally sponsored program providing support to K-12 educators nation wide. ENC has developed a database of resources for educators (curriculum items, lessons plans, state and federal standards, professional development materials, etc.) that has been cataloged, abstracted and indexed. The database supports fielded, keyword and boolean search options from the Web.

Current projects include collaboration with other universities and educational centers to integrate similar data and provide educators the ability to perform intelligent searches across disparate data sources.

We are investigating search engines and indexing, cataloging and data harvesting tools across Unix and NT platforms. Immediate considerations include development tools and administration across Unix and NT as well as porting Perl and Java from Unix to NT platforms.
