The department of computer science at Smith is creating a Windows NT lab with a donation from Microsoft, and we are planning on using NT as the new support for several of our courses, including database, graphics, and programming. In addition, I am interested in gathering and analyzing time series of Pentium events (cache, pipeline and TLB-related) available via its Machine Specific Registers (MSR), and look for fractal/chaotic behavior patterns. I am investigating NT as the platform for developing programs/drivers accessing the Pentium MSRs.
