Abstract:
We are considering Windows NT as a base platform for communication servers, specifically unattended servers in phone closets, communications huts, and other unmonitored locations. We are also interested in using NT as a research base for application protocols over TCP, with the potential to deploy research or production applications comparatively quickly to individuals with Windows NT or Windows 95 desktops. (Prototypes developed on other platforms such as Unix are not well tested or adopted by many of our customers who only have experience with the Microsoft operating systems.)
