A Case Study on Moves and Mergers
John Schimmel
Silicon Graphics, Inc.
Abstract
This is a case study on the issues surrounding a large administration
group move or merger. The actual case is that of the Silicon Graphics
Inc. merger with Mips Computer Systems Inc., but the lessons learned
are global to such events. The paper goes through the merger process,
and the subsequent move of the new Mips engineering organization,
pointing out many of the key decisions and problems that were
overcome.
