To schedule a BoF, simply write the BoF title as well as your name and affiliation on one of the BoF Boards located in the registration area. If you have a description of our BoF you'd like posted on this Web page, please schedule your BoF on the BoF board, then send its title, the organizer's name and affiliation, and the date, time, and location of the BoF to bofs@usenix.org with "OSDI '10 BoF" in the subject line.

Virtualizing Smartphones VMware Vendor BoF

VMware's Mobile Virtualization Platform (MVP) utilizes system virtualization to execute and manage multiple personalities on mobile devices. We'll describe the motivating enterprise trends driving the use cases for MVP, provide an overview of the technical architecture behind our solution, list some open research areas in this space and present a live demo of MVP in action.

OS Design and Implementation for Future Multicore Architectures

Come share your views, experiences and/or insights into modern OS for future multicore architectures.  In this BoF, we will highlight the recent advances in multicore architectures and the challenges they present to the design and implementation of modern operating systems. Issues of contemporary operating systems such as scalability, manageability and power-efficiency will be debated. Several contemporary multicore operating systems such as Barrelfish, Corey, fos and Helios will be discussed. The goal of this BoF is to draw on the lessons learned from the different research efforts in designing and implementing modern multicore OS.
