USENIX Special Announcement
Association Headquarters, Inc. (AH) has sued USENIX for
fees and costs in performing services under a management
agreement that was never signed or authorized by USENIX.
USENIX believes that former officers of the League of
Professional System Administrators ("LOPSA"), formerly
called the System Administrator's Guild, a New Jersey nonprofit
corporation, entered into the agreement
with AH and therefore LOPSA, not USENIX, should be the party
responsible for paying AH's fees and costs. USENIX's defense
against AH's' claims required LOPSA to be brought into the
suit as a third party defendant so the full story could be
told. USENIX has asked the court to award it reimbursement
of its attorneys' fees and costs incurred in defending itself
against AH and also for indemnification from LOPSA in the
event of any resulting judgment favorable to AH.
